Kim Taehyung, known as V from the globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS, was born on December 30, 1995, in Daegu, Korea.

The eldest of three children, V spent his early years in Daegu before moving to Geochang in Gyeongsangnam-do during his sixth grade. It was here where he completed his elementary and middle school education, before returning to Daegu for high school.

In September 2011, V's journey to stardom began in an unexpected way.

While accompanying a friend to an audition for Big Hit Entertainment, V's striking appearance caught the eye of the company's representatives. While his friend didn't make it, V was the only one from Daegu to pass the audition, marking the beginning of his journey to become a member of BTS.

After over a year and a half of training, V made his debut on June 13, 2013, as a member of BTS. Interestingly, he was the last member to be revealed to the public. The company kept his identity secret until debut due to his young age, good looks, and excellent voice, fearing he might be poached by another agency. This secrecy led to his nickname “Secret Weapon V.”
